Welcome to My World

In my own little sliver of the world, I write. When courage swells in me, I share. Take what you want, leave the rest.

This post is dedicated to the underlying constant that fuels my soul and makes me stupidly happy: the bath.

The bath

One of my favorite things is water. More importantly though, being submerged in water be it in a bathtub, a pool or the ocean. I love to bathe. I can spend hours in the water and not get pruney, as if I am an actual mermaid. I know I'm ridiculous, but I belong in the water and when I don't get to swim for long periods of time my skin aches and I swear my mood changes. I can tell deep in my bones that I'm drying out.

There's something so freeing about swimming and floating in water. And different kinds of water fulfill me in different ways. When I'm in the ocean I feel as though I'm communing with the earth and enjoying what mother nature has given us. When I set up a bath I am tapping into my inner realm and conversing with my spirit guides. Even the pool conjures a get together with friends to strengthen the bonds with your loved ones. The longer I surround myself with water the more in tune with it I get.

One way I soothe my soul is bath elixirs for the bathtub using flowers, essential oils, teas, incense, plants, and salt. A guide in the form of books, google research and what I feel called to include helps me choose certain botanicals and essences based on the seasons and moon phases. This paired with specific candles, meditation and journal prompts essentially allows me to set up my altar in the bathtub and swim with my spirit guides. I do this as often as I can but sometimes the recipes and rituals are so detailed that I can't do them every time I want a bath, so I've created simpler versions that aid more in relaxation and not always a deep dive into my shadow self.

So in gratitude to myself and to you, dear reader, I wanted to share a bath concoction I created at the beginning of this year that honors the new moon and self-love during the dark winter months. I call it my Golden Bath.

Golden Bath Recipe

Ingredients:

Tulsi Holy Basil

Saffron Threads

Rose Essential Oil

Mugwort Essential Oil

Ginger

Bath Salts

Directions:

Boil water in a pot and steep the Tulsi Holy Basil and Saffron Threads in the hot water for 20 minutes. Meanwhile fill the tub with warm water and your choice of bath salts. I prefer to use dead sea salts because the mineral rich salt is very healing and balancing. Strain the botanical tea into the bathtub and drip in a few drops of the Mugwort and Ginger oil. Massage your body head to toe with the Rose oil before you get into the tub and then gently lower yourself into the water.

Additionally, I light some Palo Santo to clear the air and invite my spirit guides to illuminate what I need to hear and see and guide me down the right path. I'll stay in the tub while I meditate and complete the ritual. I can't take credit for the journal prompts and ritual ceremony as I usually depend on experienced spiritual leaders to guide me, but I hope you enjoy this bath recipe as much as I do.

I'd love to hear from you if you are interested in what I'm puttin down, want to hear the full ritual or what botanical bathing brews you have in your repertoire. Subscribe.

Thank you for reading and bathing ❤
